Basic Mediation Training:
Interested in Mediation Training? Join Ellen Kandell and me September 23-27, 2019 for our 40 Hour Basic Mediation Course sponsored by the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA).
This interactive course covers theory, process, skills, and ethical considerations essential for every mediator. Training format includes coached role playing, small group discussion and exercises, video, and lecture. Topics include all required under Maryland Judicial Rule 17.

Mediating Property and Finances at Divorce:
Want to learn to help spouses discuss financial and property issues at separation or divorce? This is the course for you! Taking a skills-based approach congruent with Maryland Judicial Rule 17-205, using video, discussion, and coached role play, course includes topics such as:
1. Maryland law on marital property and alimony.
2. Distribution of assets.
3. Interface of alimony, child access, and child support.
4. Tax topics.
5. Special topics including retirement accounts and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.

Child Access Training:
This is the course to learn how to help parents develop a parenting plan!
Using video, discussion, and coached role play, course covers topics required under Maryland Judicial Rule 9-205 including:
1. Maryland law on separation, divorce and annulment; child custody and visitation;
child and spousal support; and, the interrelationship of "custody" and child support.
2. Family systems and child development.
3. Emotional aspects of separation and divorce.
4. Recognizing and addressing domestic violence and how to safely terminate mediation.
The next class, offered by Howard Community College, is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, Sunday, November 10, Saturday, November 16, and Sunday, November 17, 2019.
